New and Noteworthy: Connecticut/Westchester Judith Ivey will head the cast of Sam Sheppard's dark comedy, Curse of the Starving Class, scheduled for a February 13 opening at the Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven. Mikhail Baryshnikov will star in the world premiere of Man in a Case, Adapted from Two Stories by Anton Chekov at Hartford Stage. Conceived and directed by Annie-B Parson and Paul Lazar of Big Dance Theattre, the work will be choreographed by Parson. Paul Giamatti will have the title role in Shakespeare's Hamlet at Yale Repertory Theatre in New Haven. Artistic director James Bundy will direct. Billed as an “other worldly” love story in which, amidst the cluttered shelves of a family-owned general store in a small Black town that doesn’t appear on any map, four lost souls reunite. Partnerships dissolve, alliances shift, and romances ignite as a tragic accident unleashes the town’s mysterious history. The director is Tina Landau.
